What does a sentence rewriter do?
A sentence rewriter reshapes a sentence that is hard to read. It does not just swap synonyms. It fixes the structure: moving the main idea to the front, cutting filler, splitting a sentence that carries too much, and turning vague nouns back into verbs.
What makes a sentence hard to read?
| Problem | Example | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Filler openings | It is important to note that the report is late. | The report is late. |
| Nominalization | We made a decision to proceed. | We decided to proceed. |
| Buried subject | A decision was made by the committee. | The committee decided. |
| Run-on structure | The system is slow and it crashes and users complain. | The system is slow and crashes, so users complain. |
| Repetition | Each and every single user must log in. | Every user must log in. |
Standard or Formal?
- Standard: neutral wording and a natural flow. Good for articles, blog posts, notes and general writing.
- Formal: complete sentences, no contractions or slang, suited to cover letters, official emails, reports and academic work.
If you only want the tone changed and not the structure, use the Tone Changer. If you want completely new wording for the same idea, use the Paraphrasing Tool.
How to get the best result
- Rewrite one paragraph at a time, so the result stays easy to compare.
- Read the new version aloud. If it sounds natural, it probably is.
- Check that no condition, date, name or number has changed.
- Fix any grammar or spelling errors first with the Grammar Checker, because a rewriter works best on text that is already clean.
Limits
Each run takes up to 6,000 characters, around 900 English words. The rewriter is meant to improve readability, not to check facts or invent content, and it can still misread technical terms or ambiguous source text. The final responsibility for meaning remains yours.
