Why AdeptWrite exists

Most popular writing tools were built for English and later "extended" to other languages. Every language, though, has its own spelling authority and its own conventions: American English follows Merriam-Webster, British English follows Oxford, Spanish follows the Real Academia Española, Indonesian follows KBBI and EYD V. A tool that applies one set of rules to every language produces rewrites that read like translations and misses the errors that matter locally.

AdeptWrite is built the other way round. This English site is the global default: its tools check English first and handle any other language through the text-language selector. Each language edition of AdeptWrite is written natively for its readers and names its own authority, and the AI tools are instructed to follow that language's spelling rules.

What we make

  • One editor, many tools. Paraphraser, grammar checker, spell checker, dictionary, tone changer, summarizer, translator, essay and paragraph writers, citation generator, plagiarism checker, captions, email, headlines, product descriptions, synonyms, word counter and more — with the same layout and shortcuts everywhere.
  • A spelling engine for each language. On this site the Spell Checker and the Dictionary & Word Checker check English against American or British word lists from SCOWL, the open lists behind the common Hunspell English dictionaries. The Indonesian edition checks KBBI and EYD V, and other editions use their own language's data.
  • Reference pages with reasons. Commonly confused words explains each pair with two examples and the dictionary convention it follows.
  • Guides that answer first. Articles in Guides answer the question in the first paragraph, name their sources and carry an update date.

How the tools work

There are three kinds of engines behind AdeptWrite.

  1. AI tools (paraphrase, grammar, tone, summarizer, translator, essay and paragraph writers, captions, email, headlines, product descriptions, synonyms) send your text to our server on Cloudflare Workers, which passes it to a language model on Cloudflare Workers AI with a task- and language-specific instruction. The result goes back to your browser and the text is discarded; nothing is stored or logged.
  2. Browser tools (spell checker, dictionary, word and character counters, readability checker, case converter, text compare, citation generator and the text utilities) run entirely on your device. The one exception is the dictionary's definition panel, which looks the word up on Wiktionary.
  3. The plagiarism checker sends only a few short, distinctive phrases from your text to open sources such as Wikipedia, Wikisource, DOAJ, the Internet Archive, Europe PMC and arXiv, then lists every source it searched next to the result.

If the AI server is unreachable, Indonesian text falls back to a simpler offline engine in the paraphraser and grammar checker; for other languages the editor shows the error and a retry button.

Our principles

  • No fake data. We do not show testimonials, ratings or user counts that cannot be proven. Comparisons with other tools always carry the date they were checked.
  • Honest about AI. AI output can be wrong. We label what the machine produced, show detector results as estimates rather than proof, and remind you to check the meaning and cite your sources.
  • Privacy is not a premium feature. Text is never stored for any user, free or paid.
  • Lightweight. Static pages, one stylesheet, one script; heavier modules load only when a tool needs them.

Who is behind AdeptWrite
